Recap

This was a disappointing game for England but interesting one for Algeria. Forget England, they sucked. Wayne Rooney sucked. The entire offense of England sucked, if they had any. All they knew was to kick the ball to nowhere, they setup plays that didn’t hit the target.

Forget England. Algeria was very good in helping out they goalkeeper. They defended well, they blocked, they challenges. Algeria had a good rhythm cutting down the shooting lanes of England. It was beautiful to watch Algeria tonight.

Key Takeaway

As I said in the pre-game match of England vs Algeria, both of these teams need a win to advance to the next round. A draw by both of them at least gives Algeria a chance to move to the next round and make history. They already made history today as no African team has beaten England, and these guys tied up England, one for the books.

This is a rather boring game which shows you how strong the defense of Algeria has become and how poor England is playing. England is 22 ranks ahead of Algeria but they are playing like they are the inferior team.

This is one exciting match where four goals where scored. The first goal scored featured Slovenia’s early two point lead in the first half.

USA came back in the second half with two goals from Donovan and Bradley to tie the game. I have also included below the controversial call by the referee that ruled out the goal by Maurice Edu which could have given the USA a win.

Recap

Slovenia came up big in the first half as they scored their fastest goal in FIFA World Cup history for their country. Birsa had his first goal 13 minutes after kick-off and was followed by another from Ljubijankic before half-time ended. It seems that Slovenia was taking this game away from USA.

Second half started and Donovan quickly returned the favor with a goal on the 48th minute and was able to tie it up on the 82nd minute. USA was denied with another goal on the 85th minute when referee ruled out that Maurice Edu’s goal was nullified because of a violation that we cannot see in the replay.

Key Takeaway

USA has gotten stronger through the years and this showed us that USA is prime to compete with any team. They should have won this game if they weren’t robbed by the referee.

USA still has a chance to move to the next round if England and Algeria draw their game later tonight.

Why Algeria would win?

Algeria lost to Slovenia in their first game and they are desperate to win this game to stay alive. Expect this team to work hard and determined in the game. Algeria have a chance to push forward as Ledley King is out with the injury and England would have a hole in their defense. Algeria can slip one goal for them.

Why England would win?

Algeria is without star forward Abdelkader Ghezzal and England would be able to use Steven Gerrard more for attacks as Gareth Barry would be able to help in midfield.

England is also desperate to win as they only have one point and this team is superior against Algeria in all positions.

This is going to be a very important game for both Algeria and England if they are to advance to the next round.

Why USA would win?

USA is powered by Donovan and this is his peak FIFA World Cup. Donovan is more than capable of scoring a goal, the team has defended well against England and showed they have grown stronger throughout the years.

Why Slovenia would win?

Slovenia has won convincingly well against Algeria and the power of Birsa is more than enough to assure these guys of a goal from him and he can setup players to score another goal.

If Slovenia wins this game then they are assured of going to the next round. USA on the other hand needs to win this game if they are to move to the next round. Both of these teams are equal in strength and they should provide us with a good game.

This was a devastating loss for Germany as this has been their first group stage loss in 24 years and their first second game group stage loss in 56 years.

Germany had so many chance to score and Lukas Podolski could have even scored a hat trick since he had seven shots on goal and a penalty box free kick. Lukas wasted too much and Serbia scored a goal on fewer shots on goal.

Recap

A historic game for Serbia as they have beaten a super power team in Germany. Germany hasn’t lost a group stage since 1986 and they haven’t lost a second game group stage since 1954.

Serbia scored the first goal on the 38th minute and Germany was looking for an equalizer but after Miroslav Klose got his second yellow card, things were gloomy for the ten man team Germany.

Germany employed a three striker offense with Podolski on the left side, CaCau at the middle and Marin on the right side. Podolski had seven shots on goal but couldn’t finish off and score a goal.

Key Takeaway

Germany’s weakness was exposed with Miroslav Klose out of the picture and Michael Ballack no longer with Germany. Even when Germany employed their three striker offense it couldn’t score the equalizer just like Germany always did back in 2006 when they were done with a goal.

Group D has now become harder and teams need to win their remaining games to get to the next round.
