The best Croatia team ever in terms of player quality and style of football, even though it wasn’t the most successful. We were supposed to be champions that year. We were really unlucky in the game against France—Thuram scored his only two goals for the national team against us. We beat the Netherlands for third place, who were a much stronger team than Brazil. I still think that if we had reached the final, we would have won it.
If we had just beaten France, we could have won that tournament, Thuram never scored, he only literally scored that game…

This team was among the best in the world in that great football era with equal quality as Brazil, France, Netherlands, Germany..The details decided not to be world champions. As much we celebrate coach Blaževi? for that success i blame him for poor managing semi final against France. There is even conspiracy that he sold that match because he had legal proceeding in France during that WC but i dont buy it, he was just stubborn with putting injured Boban and ignoring Prosine?ki. Third place was great but that was biggest opportunity to win it all.

The Croatian team at the 1998 World Cup was the best team of that generation of Croatian national teams, and Suker was my favorite player, the one who instilled in me a love for the Croatian national team. Greetings from Vietnam.

Too bad this team couldn't play in WC 1994, when they were 4 years younger. Even if they wouldn't achieve something, they would have more experience for Euro 1996 and this WC 98
