Recap

This was a strong game for both teams cancelling their attacking game plan and exchange of possessions happen so often throughout the game. In the end, one goal from Spain separated them.

Spain has won a number of games with one goal and this game was no different.

Key Takeaway

Spain is the European champions and they came to the tournament as the favorites. This team did not disappoint and their first trip to the finals can earn them their first FIFA World Cup title.

73′ SPAIN SCORES via Puyol – with the way things are going this seems to be a closer.

Half-time Both team exchange possessions. I am not used to seeing this kind of game as Spain controls possession most of the time and Germany controls possession also. This time, neither team maintains possession and exchanges are made often.

Pre-game: Germany vs Spain (07 Jul 2010)Match Details
Germany-Spain, Semi-Finals, Durban, Thursday 07 July, 20.30 (local time)

Why Spain would win?

Spain has the experience, composure to win this game. The European champions is the best attacking team in the tournament this year and they have attacked the goal more than any team. Fernando Torres, David Villa and the entire Spanish team attack relentlessly and they find ways to score a goal for a win.

Why Germany would win?

Germany has gone wild in this game having scored the most number of goals in the tournament at 13. They have scored 4 goals in a game more than once and the 2006 golden boot awardee Miroslav Klose is looking to make history as the highest scoring player in FIFA World Cup.

Germany is the third youngest team in the tournament which gives them the legs to run and run with Spain and even outrun their opponents in the end.

Key Takeaway

This is an explosive game and while Spain has the experience for a stable gameplay all throughout until they score a goal for the win, Germany has Miroslav Klose who is a cold-blooded striker that can deliver the goal calmly and accurately in the game. With Germany’s third youngest legs scoring 4 goals in their games multiple times, I have my bets on Germany.

Below are the highlights:

Full-time

This is another heartbreaker as Argentina didn’t equalize and they didn’t put up a good fight against Germany. They have deteriorated in the second half.

89′ GERMANY SCORES via Klose

74′ GERMANY SCORES via Friedrich

68′ GERMANY SCORES via Klose

Half-time

This was supposed to be a great first half if it wasn’t for the spoiler of Muller on a header from a free kick. Argentina made that defensive breakdown and at this level, teams win on small things.

03′ GERMANY SCORES via Muller

Pre-game: Argentina vs Germany (03 Jul 2010)Match Details
Argentina-Germany, Quarter-Finals, Cape Town, Wednesday 03 July, 16.00 (local time)

Why Germany would win?

Germany has played so well bringing the game to their opponents. Philip Lahm, Podolksi has been very efficient setting up plays and Miroslav Klose moves and positions himself so well to open scoring opportunities for their country.

This side is capable of scoring and even if they are down on goals, this team find ways to comeback and win.

Why Argentina would win?

Argentina has created the best plays in this tournament and Lionel Messi has been phenomenal running the field, setting plays, attacking and making sure their players like Higuain can have a field day scoring goals.

Key Takeaway

This is going to be a game to watch where two high octane, high attacking teams with deadly strikers are going to score goals to the delight of the crowd.
