Liveblogging: Australia vs Serbia (23 Jun 2010)Australia (2) vs Serbia (1)
84′ PANTELIC (Serbia)
73′ HOLMAN (Australia)
69′ CAHILL (Australia)

Winner:Australia

This was a great game for Australia as they tried to score as many goals as they can to advance to the next round beating Ghana on goal difference. That did not happen but Australia still had a good run in the finals.

Thanks for joining me. Hope to see you again in the next game, LivebloggingMilo.

I am updating this page with a summary of highlights on the first half, and second half. Also, I would post goals scored if any right away including the video here.

For details of happenings, you can get it at FIFA.

Below are the highlights:

84′ SERBIA SCORES via PANTELIC
73′ AUSTRALIA SCORES via HOLMAN
69′ AUSTRALIA SCORES via CAHILL

1st Half – still no goals for these two teams. Both have had good looks at the goal but could not put a point on their scorecard. I expected more running and attacking from both these teams, but they seem to setup play too much.

Pre-game: Australia vs Serbia (23 Jun 2010)Match Details
Australia-Serbia, Group D, Nelspruit, Wednesday 23 June, 20.30 (local time)

Why Serbia would win?

Serbia is much stronger on paper compared to Australia and they are riding high with their win against Germany, a historic feat for this club. Serbia is looking to seal the next round with a win.

Why Australia would win?

Australia needs a miracle to move to the next round as they have never beaten a European country in FIFA World Cup finals. Everything has a first time and Australia hope this is the one.

Key Takeaway

Both of these teams are looking for a win to get to the next round. They know what is at stake and would be fighting for the win.
