  1. Croatia debut and straight to semi final and could (in my objective or subjective opinion should) get to the final. Imagine you lead and have probably biggest France generation on their knees, make a mistake and let Thuram score his only 2 career goals in span of few minutes. That Croatian team was even better and more stacked than 2018. So 1998 3rd, 2018 2nd means 2038 gold ? Anyway that WC was unforgettable with so many great teams and players, especially strikers..Brazilian Ronaldo, Henry, Šuker, Bergkamp, Batistuta, Vieri…and today you can count on the fingers of one hand world class pure strikers. I really miss that football era.

  2. To be honest I think 48 teams is a ridiculous amount of teams to have in a competition that is meant to be "the best of the best"… 32 is just the right amount. Germany vs Curacao?? I think Curacao will do well to keep it to a 5 – 0 scoreline… And I don't think that's the only time when we will be seeing cricket scores… It just shouldn't happen like that.

Also, it's crazy that Brazil, Scotland and Morocco all end up in the same group like in 1998 ?

ps I hope McTominay etc have a win against Brazil just for a laugh!!

  3. This WC had like 6 teams that were easily Champions material. France. Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Bebeto's Brazil (with Romario being left out by the coach). Van Gaal's Ajax based Netherlands. Croatia's golden generation. Argentina with Ayala, Sensini, Simeone, Verón, Batistuta and Ortega. Italy with Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro, Del Piero, Baggio and Vieri. Even aging Denmark and Germany had superb teams.

  4. 2026 is a World Cup year but it doesn’t feel like there’s a football
World Cup. The build up has been lethargic and the feeling is just not the same . Brazil 2014 was the last World Cup to have people excited, 2018 was mild, Qatar was meh, 2026 it’s almost like the last kicks of a dying horse.

  5. Look at how great the kits were. So many iconic and individual kits. They're soooooo boring nowadays. I could tell pretty much every nation within a second or two because the kits were so distinct. Also, look at how many legends there were in every national team. Football just doesn't hit like it used to. Haven't been excited about a World Cup for quite a few now.

  6. All the uncovered jewellery ? rings earrings wrist chains necklaces….. oh these were the days. Plus the tackles were proper tackles and players going down only when they can’t stand anymore. Miss these days

  7. Maybe I am just nostalgic, but I feel so much more authentic football vibe when watching this. Every nation had so much personality and a different play style.

Today, football is much more advanced, but the atmosphere is so disconnected. I knew most of the players even from Columbia or Nigeria.
