2. As good of a striker Karim Benzema is, despite being less talented it’s actually crazy to me how better of a team France looked with Olivier Giroud up top. The guy is a phenomenal striker but France were a better team with Giroud as their striker than Benzema.

   The top scorer of all time for the France national team they seriously won a World Cup without him scoring a single goal. His presence as a target man dropping deep being physical in the air and dominant this allowed Kylian Mbappe Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba to flourish and this made France a well cohesive unit and they had a lot of balance with him as their striker. He’s an unsung hero and we live in a generation with a lot of great strikers (Karim Benzema Luis Suarez Robert Lewandowksi etc) just like Edin Dzkdo, Olivier Giroud often goes under the radar due to his play not being flashy enough despite his longevity and goalscoring record for club and country.

3. I’ve noticed some similarities between Olivier Giroud and Edin Dzeko. Both of them are unsung heroes who have a track record of scoring goals and having success wherever they’ve gone on multiple teams in different leagues and they’ve done it for a long period of time. The longevity they have isn’t spoken about enough even though as they’ve aged they continue to score goals they play the same way as they’re target mans that are good at holding the ball up and are often overlooked because their game isn’t flashy enough. In a team full of flashy and creative players, you need that experience and player that at times will take sacrifices just to help the team and even with the goals they score Giroud and Dzeko can do that and they’re the definition of underrated (unsung heroes).

5. Haaland does the same thing in important matches and finals so that other players like kdb, silva, foden can get the space to score but people criticize haaland for ghosting in finals.

This is the single reason benzema never really worked in france but giroud did, benzema was an out-n-out goalscorer whom you could defend but giroud if he got the space or the ball its an almost guaranteed goal because in the box there's so many options for him thanks to his height which is why people just went after him and he made space for the other attackers with better pace, giroud deserves so much credit.

With all due respect to the guy who did this video and other comments, the argument against benzema is kind of baseless, we saw benzema and kilyan mbappe in the semi finals and finals of the nation's league and they destroyed Belgium and Spain to win the title , then even at euro 2020 benzema still performed scoring 3 or 4 goals and France's problems were in other parts of the pitch , WE MUST NOT FORGET THAT AFTER FRANCE WON THE WORLD CUP IN 2018 , MATUIDI LEFT THEM, That was a big difference.
