  1. Greatest goal ever scored in USMNT history. There was something about the time, the place, and the zeitgeist that all seemed to coalesce at once. Massive turning point in the growth of the sport in the US as well. Joga Bonito: the beautiful game.

  2. My dad and I watched the US in the 2014 world cup. My dad was not a big soccer fan but he did watch the world cup. Seeing USA and Belgium in the round of 16 together was our bonding moment with soccer as fans. My dad passed away in 2019 so he never saw them play in the world cup again. But he would be impressed with this young team that we have now. They did well in the world cup

  3. Dude, my now husband was just about to leave for work, and he didnt know Soccer. you scored that goal as he walked out, he walked back in, concerned about me(bc I was losing my mind) The way i destroyed our apartment? you are the best. Been watching since I was 16 L.A. Galaxy

  4. One of my favorite goals of all time (also love Abby Wambachs header to tie ba Brazil) & my all
Time favorite Dennis Berkamp’s game winner vs argentina (man wish they could have made finals just on that goal
Alone and I root for Brazil due to family from that country)

  5. He was never my favorite, but damn if he didn’t bring me to tears with that goal!!!! I’m glad he got himself right mentally, and hopefully someday he will grace the sidelines of a USMNT WC Squad as the boss

  6. Thats the day my wife and I chose our son’s name (she was due 10 days from that day((Donovan is also #10)) it was so intense, we were with a big group and we all cried, I don’t even know why ?

  7. I was in my moms belly at the time of that goal . I was also named after Landon Donovan, I got the name Landon Meza. I even got to meet him when he played in the semi pro leagues. I got his autograph when he came to play vs the Dallas sidekicks

  8. Made me a lifelong fan. My mom let me skipped school that day to watch the game and I don't regret it for a day. I know exactly where I was that day and how I felt every second of the game!

  9. What a moron. This guy couldn’t even make it on the field in Europe. He was a huge crybaby and his ego was unreal for his lack of talent. He’s part of the everybody gets a trophy generation and hopefully the states will start producing actual talent
