  1. This video came from the comment section of one of the first episodes we did. So, thanks to all of you who have enjoyed this series. Think of it like the holiday present you didn't totally want but are fine with.

  2. I don’t understand why there was even extra time during group stage. I agree that this golden goal rule was weird, but I also feel that having extra time is also what compelled Barbados to score this own goal.

  3. In the 2023 Rugby World Cup, happening now, we may have a similar situation next week due to some very poorly designed tie-breakers. Scotland will play Ireland in their final pool match. If Ireland should find themsleves 14 points behind in the late minutes, having scored at least four tries and Scotland having scored at least three, then Ireland would only be able to advance by scoring (eliminating Scotland) or surrendering (eliminating South Africa) a converted try. Of course rugby doesn't have anything like an own goal, but since Scotland wouldn't be eliminated by scoring again, they'd surely not decline the score.

It's extremely unlikely to play out this way (I think Ireland will control the game and the defenses will be tight) but it's within the realm of possibility.

  4. If Grenada had either an ounce of intelligence or integrity the would have immediately conceded an own goal from the restart.
In the words of that guy who indirectly killed Whitney Houston- 2 can play that game ?

  5. And technically, the people defending the opposite goal could use their hands and just give away a free kick on the other side of the field, and you cant score into your own goal from a free kick…

  6. Why make videos if you don't understand the sport? Going 10 on 5 would be a terrible idea. As soon as the other team gets a chance, they just kick the ball all the way down to the opposite end of the field and play keep away for the remainng time.

  7. Man Utd and Chelsea tactics explained, somebody made them believe that they got extra points for scoring golden goal if the score ties at full time.
They still can’t understand why the Referee and opposition players leave the pitch after full time and don’t play the extra time! ???

That explains why United and Chelsea are playing the way they are this season ???

  8. Barbados players and the coach knew from the point the score was 2-1 that there last resort might be to do that. But they skillfully dragged it to the last minutes without giving any hints to Grenada players about their kamikaze move. And when it happened the timer was just too short for Grenada to realize that they can also score their own goal by 10v5-ing. Basically the shock was sudden with little time to react and devise a counter. Their main fault was playing loosely from the start thinking Barbados won't be able to advance most likely.

  9. The one thing I don’t get is why Barbados scored the own goal with so much time left. Like why wouldn’t they just continue attacking Grenada’s net until the very end of regulation to try and go ahead by two. And then if they get down to the very end and still hadn’t scored, they could just make the own goal the. With a few seconds left to send it into overtime. That way the wouldn’t have given Grenada the opportunity to “respond”

  10. Everyone thinking about the goal rule…I wanna know WHY they went into extra time in a GROUP match instead of ending as a draw with a point on the table each

  11. As for why they ever introduced the "golden goal counts double" rule, there were quite a lot of rule changes and experimentation in the 1990s including other variations on the "golden goal" (Euro 96 and World Cup 98), switching to three points for a win instead of two, changes (in domestic football) to restrictions on foreign players, changed rules around goalkeepers' movements and handling (passback rule introduced and two-steps rule scrapped)… it was the 90s ???
