Very tough loss. The players could not do anything during Penalty Kicks as it could go either way.
Players and coaches are outspoken on how ugly and sickening it is to lose in penalties. I would agree that sometimes luck plays a major factor especially when you have top notch goalkeepers and top notch shooters on the field.
As written on England centre-half Ferdinand believe they are a better team who deserved to win: We deserved to win today. It wasn’t as one-sided but it was almost like the FA Cup final against Arsenal. They never looked like scoring a goal although they had a lot of shots from outside the box – but they won the game. To lose on penalties again is sickening but the lads put a great effort in. It just wasn’t to be. We didn’t falter with 10 men. Even with 10 men we were the team who created the best chances. In the second-half we had about three half-chances and decent chances which we didn’t manage to convert. ‘That’s the only positive I can draw from it. We were still the more dangerous side. I’ve not seen what happened so I was amazed when he was sent off. I was thinking: `What for?’ but I’ll wait and see the video.
Alan Shearer is angry at Christian Ronaldo who charged at the referee asking him to give Rooney a red card. He said Rooney should stick one at Ronaldo in the future.
Lots of emotions were let out after England lost 3-1 in penalty kicks. I would wanted for England to win and I don’t think they deserve to lose like this.
