Profile: Kaka, Brazil’s Finest Discovery

Kaka

Kaka is standing out amongst the talented pool of football players in Brazil. According to Pele Kaka is very skillful and already one of the best players in the world.

Ricardo Izecson Santos Leite, Kaka's real name, despite being only 22 years old has already propelled fellow countryman Rivaldo towards the exit door, has relegated Portuguese legend Rui Costa to the bench and continuously serves as the driving force and brains of AC Milan football club.

He is unlike the common Brazilian football player who first played the game in the street with a soccer ball made from rags. He came from a comfortable, cultured family and kept his studies while honing his skills. When his skills where already high enough to stay outside the radar of the football world; he received his first financial rewards. His maturity and sense of responsibility was depicted by funding his brother's education at the best college in Sao Paulo rather than buying luxurious items.

Tackling the Obstacle

He is not one of your natural "born to be a superstar" players. Rather, he grew up physically short, lanky and thin but this did not discourage him but inspired him to work very hard and gain ten pounds of muscle.

Kaka always dreamt of playing for Milan football team. His friend attests to his likeness of the team and said it was the only club he thought about and, in the end, he has conquered it," Pacheco reminisces.

Despite his likeness of the team, he had no intention to play right away in Italy. But I doubt his immense talent could afford him that. With 8.5 million euros over five years, Leonardo a Milan executive convinced Kaka to play in AC Milan. With less than one season, the prized player has the San Siro in his pocket.

Zico explains that Kaka is "Brazil's finest discovery". He has the technique of a Brazilian and the physical qualities of a European.

"He's a well-balanced, laid-back young man, who is not prone to either over-excitement or depression," explains his coach Carlo Ancelotti with evident admiration. He is mentally very strong and already very mature beyond his years. I don't think there's much risk of him getting bigheaded. He is a great champion."

Comparatively his football debut stats are bigger than those superstars ahead of him as shown below:

Pavel Nedved, with 7,30. By way of a yardstick, other great playmakers of world football recorded considerably lower ratings during their debut seasons, such as Maradona (6.93), Falcao (6.79), Zico (6.74), Michel Platini (6.48) and Socrates (5.83).

He reminds me of a young Ronaldinho during World Cup 2002 who scored an incredible goal in the competition.

He is surely one of those players we will be watching come World Cup 2006.

[...] Or are we focusing too much on Ronaldo? Have we forgotten Ronaldinho and Kaka? I have a great respect for Ronaldo but at his present physical state how do you expect someone to bounce back. He did overcame his last major adversity en route to the 2002 Cup title but he was totally in shape for a long time prior to the competition. Come the games itself he was perhaps in the greatest shape of his life — ready to show the world why he is the game’s deadliest striker.  An overweight, out of synch guy like him may not be enough to pull off Brazil. kaka is a good footballer … if anyone remembers he got brazils first 2006 world cup goal and it was a long range shot which surprisingly went in but i’m glad it did … anyway kaka is not only a good player but he is also cute AND he’s a cristian which makes it even better, but i am disapointed brazil didn’t win, well i’v said this to many people many times before but i’ll say it again no offense (if anyone does get offended) but i really think brazil’s performance wasn’t very good except when they played against ghana BUT no offence again they only won because all the goals, all 3 GOALS were offside and i should know cause i’m 21 now and i’v been playing football ever since i was young and to tell you the truth even a child can spot and offside and there was like probably a 40 year old ref who couldn’t even see that … but anyway i’m glad brazil won and i hope they do in 2010 and i’ll be there this time.

[...] I cannot believe how a talent like Ronaldo would show up overweight in the greatest sporting event in the world. The 1996, 1997 and 2002 World Footballer of the Year was a disgrace in the first game against Croatia with Kaka providing the only goal for the team. Brazil’s below expectation performance and Argentina’s spectacular showing are tipping the scale of the World Cup Finals. [...]
