Now Brazil has More Excuses than Results

in News & Features

Brazil FIFA World CupDunga remained true to his word that local players shall be given a chance for a slot on Brazil National Team which was traditionally reserved for European players by leaving out Ronaldinho, Adriano, Kaka and Ronaldo, Cafu and Emerson; the only players chosen from World Cup 2006 squad were Cicinho, Fred, Gilberto, Gilberto Silva, Juan, Lucio, Luisao and Robinho.

Dunga contends that his squad is composed of players who have done very well in their younger age groups and says that the door is open for everybody.

The squad is expected to play friendly against Norway in August 16 and doesn’t have the pressure to win or play beautiful football especially when top flight players are not included. Dunga is definitely experimenting on his squad to see who among them has the potential to make it to FIFA World Cup 2006 which should not see a dominating Ronaldo neither a competitive Cafu on the squad, as such he is fielding out new and young talent before he piece the puzzle altogether.

That’s a lot of excuse for him on possible succeeding poor performance by the national squad. He better do the experimentation quick and with results otherwise his strategy is a distraction to a core squad that could already develop while playing alongside each other.

Is this Strategy going to Work?

The top European players led by Ronaldinho will definitely play in FIFA World Cup 2010 and joining the squad right now doesn’t make sense. Dunga is digging the wealth of National Football which will surprise us of a hero killer opponent.
